STRUCTURE: This class is ideal for those with zero experience who want to try the wheel to see if they like it before taking a four-week class to learn the craft. During this course, you will explore the potential of clay, its inherent properties, and techniques used to throw it into something beautiful.

LESSON LENGTH: Included in our One-week session are daily 2-hour lessons from our fabulous throwing master, Shweta, who will hold your hand every step of the way, literally if needed.

STRUCTURE: In the first two weeks, you will learn to center and manipulate your ball of clay into well-built forms. In week three, you will learn how to trim ribbons of clay to make handles, followed by various firing sessions producing well-built forms that can be taken home.

STRUCTURE: During this eight-week ceramics course, you will build on your existing knowledge in wheel throwing. You will be able to take bigger balls of clay and throw them into shapes you want, from distinct handles and lids to more intricate and complex shapes, followed by various firing sessions producing well-built forms that can be taken home.

STRUCTURE: Glaze is a fundamental process of ceramics and gives the clay surface a vast range of color and depth. During this course, you will learn about the various materials required to make your glaze and the technical application to the fired clay. This course is ideal for students who already have fired pieces that they would like to glaze over, either on previous studies at House of Klei or elsewhere.
